Working To Serve Claimants in 2012
Meeting challenges in the coming year

As we enter a new year, many organizations face a familiar challenge. How can they do more with less?

A national recession, state and federal budget cuts, and record-breaking increases in Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) applications have created a perfect storm of interest in how the nation’s largest government insurance and benefit program will meet that challenge.

Few federal agencies have received more public, media and Congressional attention in 2011 than the Social Security Administration (SSA). Everyone involved with the SSDI process—DDS, ODAR and SSA staff, claimants and their families, SSDI representatives and patient advocates—have been affected by budget cuts and increased demand for services.

Arguably, those most impacted are the claimants, who can still experience a wait of several hundred days if their claim reaches the hearing level. Since 1984, Allsup has worked with SSA professionals at every level of the SSDI process. We recognize that we share a common goal—to get individuals, who are clearly eligible for SSDI benefits, their awards as quickly and as compassionately as possible.

The challenge facing SSA is Allsup’s challenge as well.

For nearly three decades, Allsup has implemented and advocated for technical, procedural and operational changes aimed at improving efficiency and fairness. We are ready and focused on working with DDS, ODAR and SSA staff to improve productivity and eliminate wasted time and duplicate efforts.
